PROJECT 1: Fettucini Bridge


In a group of 5 member, we are required to analyse and solve trusses of different arrangement which subjected to the same load condition. Refer to the analysis result, we are required to manipulate design and produce a fettucine bridge. The bridge is then tested using weight.

 

This project really interest me as it requires us to design a truss bridge, we did researches on the various real life truss bridge around the world and came up with the one we think will be able to take some weight and also not lose its aesthetics. Before the final bridge is decided and built, we made 4 precendent models to study our bridges. The final result is a hybrid of 3 designs which would take the given weight of testings.

BUILDING STRUCTURES

 
PROJECT 2: Case Study


In a group of 6 members, we are required to perform structural study on an existing building. The building must be a skeletal reinforced concrete structure. Each group is to produce strutural drawings of the building. Next, each group member is to propose their own minor extension to the structure.

 

The building we chose is a house with 2 adults and one children, it is a very lively house and the most interesting part is that it has a slide in the middle connecting first floor to ground floor. The child can slide down straight from his room, that is why we choose to do our extension at the side of the house. Me and my partner created a gaming room for the child and a jacuzzi on the ground floor for the adults and guests, we carry on to analyse and calculate the forces in the columns and beams.
